How Can PCOD Be Treated?

Hi. Im 22 years old. My periods are late from last 2 months. I had scan which shows that my right ovary is 11.3ml in size and my left ovary is 10.3 ml in size. Doctor said its POCD but my weight is normal and their is no facial hair growth. secondly i also had Pelvic inflamatory disease PID. Im really worried about it. Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

Thanks for the question. I Understand your concern.

Scan reports and history noted:

a) PCOD or polycystic ovarian disease is a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with multiple small cysts.

b) Not necessarily everyone will have weight gain or facial hair.

c) In your case, its purely related to menstrual cycle. Hence, you will be having irregular menstrual cycle.

d) So nothing much to worry. You require treatment just to regularize your monthly cycles through hormonal tablets for some months. You will be fine.
e) I suggest that you continue the recommended treatment.

Hope your question was answered. For any clarifications, please do contact me.

Thank you.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. DIVYA N, General & Family Physician
