Polycustic ovarian disease (PCOD) treatment depends upon individual concerns, such as infertility, hirsutism, acne or obesity.
Specific treatment might involve lifestyle changes or medication:
1. To regulate your menstrual cycle: A combination birth control pills is usually recommended. 2. To help you ovulate: Clomiphene is prescribed during the first part of your menstrual cycle. 3. Metformin (medication for type 2 diabetes): If you don't become pregnant using Clomiphene, Metformin which improves insulin resistance and lowers insulin levels is also added.
APCOD is a nutritional supplement (L-Methyl Folate, Myo-Inositol and Vitamin D3) and is mostly used as alternative medicine rather than the ones approved by drug regulatory bodies, however, there's no clear scientific data to prove its effectiveness in the treatment of PCOD.
If you are obese, my first advice is to loose weight and optimize your body mass index as this sole advice may completely cure your problem and you can have regular cycles and normal pregnancy.
Hope the advice given above would be useful.
