General & Family Physician 's  Response
Brief answer: It is not advisable to take Prednisone which is a steroid regularly for a long duration.

Detailed answer: From the information provided by you I assume you have been on treatment for Reiter's disease and arthritis since a long time.
Though steroids like Prednisone are very good in relieving inflammation and pain in these condition, long term regular use of steroids orally itself has too many adverse effects on body like-
-Frequent infections due to lowered immunity
-Kidney and Liver related problems
-Stomach pain due to gastritis and ulcers
-Increased blood pressure
-Increased chances of heart attack and stroke
-behavioral changes
-Weight gain

Instead I would recommend a consultation with a Rheumatologist to try some other modes of treatment like local injection of steroids in the joint to lower systemic side effects.
Hope this information helps you, thank you.
