How Can Tourette Syndrome Be Treated?

My son is 23 yrs old and has Tourettes (since age 7) and they are the worst I ve ever seen. His motor tics have decreased, but the vocal tics are extreme. Who can help me? His neurologist seems to not care anymore. I feel as though he is just going through the motions because NOTHING has helped. We rent and the tenants around us are becoming increasingly angered by all the noise. I need a physician yesterday . My cell number is (401) 699-7779. My name is Doreen Rega and my son is Cameron Martino.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As you already know, the Tourette syndrome is a genetically derived mutation affecting the central neurons.
* The prime therapy is behavior therapy in majority of the cases to keep it under as control as possible, because it is not curative.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
