How Can UTI Be Treated?

I was was prescribed macroid twice daily for uti I also have a yeast infection and was prescribed fluconazole once daily every 3 days and was given 3 doses. How is Macroid for a UTI as I have read a lot of negative results? Is it effective? Should I wait to take the Fluconazole after the 7 days of my current treatment because Antibiotics cause yeast infections and due to the fact that I was prescribed 3 doses to be taken one pill every 3 days? Can they work effectively together?? Thank You

Hello,

Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) is an excellent choice to treat UTI. However, if not working properly, should rune urine culture and sensitivity testing to determine the right diagnosis and most appropriate and sensitive antibiotic.

Fluconazole is another good choice to treat yeast infection. Should take them all together at the same time as prescribed by your doctor. Do not wait for 7 days of finishing Macrobid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Albana Sejdini
