How Can UTI Be Treated?
My 38 year old wife is in the Philippines on an humanitarian mission trip and has a UTI. The Filipino Doctor prescribed 500mg of Levofloxacin once per day for 10 days, was there a better antibacterial of choice? Not to keen on the potential side effects. Thank you, Dr. Rynne, appreciate your time.

No, once daily is not the adult regimen. Maybe, your doctor has prescribed you the low dose. As far I know you can take it twice daily. Other antibiotics like Norfloxacin, Ofloxacin all can be taken and dosage to be checked according to body weight.
Usually, it is twice daily. You can even take Augmentin drug thrice daily is best for curing infections. Kindly get prescription for any of the above drugs.
