My son currently takes 20mg vyvanse and we have spoke to our doctor about weaning him off of it. He said that it isnt a problem, because we can always add it back if we need to. What is the best way to ween him off. Every other day, then every third day....or is it ok to stop cold turkey and be very sensitive to him having withdrawl symptoms.
Yes, you can wean the drug if you feel the drug is no longer needed. But you should not stop it abruptly since it may cause adverse effects. Irritability, anxiety and restlessness will occur. so you have to reduce the dose gradually if symptoms occur to continue the reduced dose for few then reduce it. It's better to reduce every third since the body will take time to adapt to the withdrawal of the drug.
