How Can Warfarin Dependence Be Reduced With Appropriate Diet?
Hi, thank you for your attention. I am a healthy 58 year old woman, physically active and careful of diet. I had a valve replacement 4 years ago due to congenital bicuspid valve implacement. It is a St. Jude Titanium size 21. Subsequently I was prescribed coumedan (warfarin) to keep my INR in check. I want to decrease my coumedan, and am looking for foods which would naturally enhance a smaller quantity of the drug. I currently take 6.25 mg per day. I read that walnuts and raw garlic enhance the effects of the drug. Is this true? If so, are there other foods I should try to include in my diet? I know they say to avoid the Vitamin K foods but would like to add a limited amount of these as well. Thank you
