How Can A Bee Sting Be Treated?

My husband was using a grass trimmer in the ditch by our house and felt a sting. He did not see the varmint buy he thinks it was a ground bee. That was about mid day. It is now 10 pm. The sight is red and hot and the center of the sight has about an 1/8 circle that is white. The sight is still painful. I put tea tree oil on it but I was wondering if there was something else I should do.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Bee sting can cause a localised allergic reaction that can cause red, painful and swollen area at the site of the bite..

So first of all have a close look at the bite site to see if the stinger is still embedded in the skin..

If it is embedded, you should use fine tweezers to remove it as it can continue to trigger the reaction..

Secondly you can apply a steroid ointment like Triamcinolone acetonide over it to reduce inflammation and itching..

Do cool compresses over it..

He can also take anti allergic like Benadryl, Levocetrizine etc as it will help in alleviating the symptoms faster..

Avoid scratching the area as it can cause infection..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
