Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good morning. I was stung by a bee on Wednesday & now my foot (near the sting) is slightly swollen with what looks like a large bruise as though I have injured my foot. My Doctor said that if it doesn t improve by Monday, to take the antibiotics he prescribed. The swelling & redness is going down, but the bruise has just come out last night. I m away at a wedding next weekend so would like to avoid having to take antibiotics but if it s going to get worse I obviously need to. Can you please advise of what you think the problem is & the treatment. Thank you
The venom in bee sting has lots of enzymes that may cause the symptoms you are describing and different bodies react in different ways to it. A bruise is not an indicator of it getting infected so if the swelling and redness keep going down I would suggest not to take antibiotics, and wait for the bruise to disappear as it takes more days to do so.
I hope this helps you and you enjoy the wedding.
Thanks.
