Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Your doctor looked at a little blister on my son s leg and said, Oh this looks like Coxsackie virus. Then he said just go home and wash with soap and water. My son doesn t have a single symptom except for 2 red spots on his leg.. Is it possible these 2 blisters are not Coxsackie since my son has no symptoms? The info on web MD is very alarming. Our doctor was very casual about this. We are confused.
I believe that the doctor meant to say he had an infection caused by Coxsackie virus like hand foot mouth disease. This is fairly common in kids and can vary widely in intensity. It usually resolves by itself and only occasionally needs symptomatic treatment. However, this is highly contagious (by sneezing, coughing, contact with his stool or saliva)
Please practice strict hand hygiene and keep him away from other kids till symptoms resolve.
Hope this helps. Wish you all good health
