How Can A Blood Clot Below The Knee Be Treated?

If I suspect a blood clot below my knee on the leg could I apply heat or cold to it to see if that helps . If one of these would help that would be great , my symptoms are not enough to go for medical care today. I have had cellulitis in the past. If not better tomorrow I will see my doctor. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. I understand your concerns.
Clot in leg is called deep vein thrombosis and it should not be treated on your own way and diagnosis cant be established without further tests which include d-dimer count and doppler ultrasound. If this is thrombosis then it must be treated with elastic compresses, warming, leg elevation, avoid long sitting and in some cases medical therapy with heparine is required but it shold be considered when tests are done.
I hope I have answered your query.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
