Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was stung by a bee about 2 1/2 weeks ago and of course it itched and swelled and turned to bruise like coloring. Problem is it still looks like I have a bruise about the size of a lemon and the point where it stung me is still a spot. I m not sure if I got the stinger out or not. I have tried tweezers and such but I just don t know but it sometimes feels like it s still there.
If even after 2 1/2 weeks there is still a spot and if it is harder as compared to the surrounding skin then there is a possibility that the stinger is not removed and is still embedded under the skin.
Many times if the stinger is deep enough it cannot be removed by tweezers at home, so you need a medical assistance for getting it removed.
You should consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and a clinical examination can be done.
Along with it, you should apply a steroid ointment over the area like betamethasone along with antibiotic combination like Neomycin. Do cool compresses over it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr Honey Arora, Dentist
