Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can A Bruised Voice Box And Trachea Be Treated?
I recently fell on my throat when trying to break a fall (almost two weeks ago) and after going to emergency ER clinic and further xrays it was diagnosed that I bruised my voice box and trachea.. I could not talk and was on a soft food diet and pain medication prescribed. The Dr. indicated this would simply need time to heal. It has been 13 days, I now am able to eat somewhat solid foods but my voice is still very scratchy with limited capacity in my vocal chords and soreness still in tact, how long will or can this take to heal?
Usually depending upon the intensity of laceration or bruise, internal organs get healing by a varying period of time.
In some cases, it may be around 2-3 weeks or sometimes beyond 4-6 weeks.
It is the sequential evaluation clinically more important about the condition progress or worsening, rather than focusing a pinpoint end of recovery date.
Addition of gargles with lukewarm water added peppermint oil sounds great tool for best early recovery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
General & Family Physician
