How Can A Burn Blister On The Thigh Be Treated?

Boiling hot water fell on my thigh on 23/8/17. A big blister formed which later burst. I have been applying Silverex since then and taking Augmentin 625 Duo thrice a day for 5 days and after that twice a day. The wound has turned reddish pink and continues to burn and pain. My dosage of Augmentin 625 Duo will end tomorrow 1/9/17. Pls advise a) for how long I should contine applying Silverex b) for how many days more does the wound need to be dressed when I go to office. Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your pain and burn wound.

As per your history it seems there are no signs of infection in your burn wound.

If the wound is clear, there is no discharge of pus and associated pain, there is no need to continue the oral medication but keep applying the local antibiotic cream till the wound is fully healed.

In case you feel there is discharge of pus, Pain and associated fever, you may need to continue the medication augumentin for three more days. Also avoid any scratching and keep wound away from any dirt. You may also need a tetanus toxoid vaccination because open wounds like burn are prone to it.

Hope my answer will help you and visit us back if you have any further queries.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
