How Can A Cheek Biting Tendency Be Controlled?

I tend to bite at the inside of my cheeks when extra skin grows there. Is this directly related to eating carbs, sugar, or yeast? I've practically cut out all carbs and sugar from my diet except rice, potatoes, canned fruit, and gluten free bread. Now I'm even wondering about them. What causes this to happen and how can I prevent it?
