General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If the wound is infected, it is better to start on antibiotics to prevent complications.

Ampiclox is the preferred antibiotic. A tetanus shot is also recommended. You can apply topical antibiotics like mupirocin after cleaning with soap and water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
