Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have accidentally skinned the top right section of the end of my ring finger. Its a minor, nonfatal fleshwound. Both layers of skin were affected. Bleeding has stopped but there is a certain amount of skin missing, a certain white pigment of under layer skin from which the blood was flowing from. No bone is exposed. I have lathered the damaged area with antiiotic cream and rapped it with a bandaide. How else should I procede?
It seems you are already doing the right things by using the antibiotic cream and wrapping the wound to keep it clean. You might need to change the dressing on the wound every day and if you notice any swelling or redness or the pain from the would is getting worse you will need medical attention to make sure you are not having any infection.
Meanwhile please don't use rings in that finger till it is completely healed because if swelling develops the ring may prevent blood perfusion in the finger and cause major damage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
