How Can A Diaper Rash In And Infant Be Treated?

My grandson has a severe diaper rash. He is breastfeed and just started eating some soft foods. He is almost 8 months old. Thr dr he went to said he has a fungus & to only use the cream 2/day. This is his second day he has a slight improvement . He had a fever of 102 for 3 days it is better today. I would like to know what else will be helpful. He is miserable.

Stop using diapers for some days. If not possible then give him diaper free time for some hours daily. Change diapers every few hours. Don't let poopy diapers remain. Use diaper rash cream like desitin which has zinc. Will be better in a week
