How Can A Dog Bite Be Treated?

My father got bitten by our pet dog when he was trying to get the dog to hospital after he got paralyzed from an accident. The bite was on his hand and it punctured a vein..he has taken the vaccination injection and still has 4 left to take. The area around the dog bite is swelling up and the blood won t stop flowing. The injection was taken with in 2 hour after the dog bite. Should i be worried about this issue since he got bitten in the vein.. please respond

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Continued bleeding and redness at bite site indicates infection.
Recommended antibiotics after dog bite is amoxicillin-clavulonic acid .
Continue rabies vaccine as scheduled.
Tetanus vaccine is also required depending on vaccination history.

Hope this answers your question
