General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thanks for putting your query over here.
If I were your treating doctor,I recommend,
-immediate washing of wound with soap and water
-Injection Rabipur vaccine Intramuscular 5 doses on days 0,3,7,14,28.
-If within 2 years of this complete per vaccination, there is again exposure to dog bite, you just need to take two doses of Rabipur on days 0 and 3.
-If you had not Tetanus Toxoid booster in last 5 years, you need to be given inj.Tetanus Toxoid vaccine .
If you have follow all above steps, you need nothing else. The chances of rabies are less likely after this vaccination.
The itching sensation you getting around your wound may be because it is in healing process forming scab. You may apply calamine lotion over it for soothing.
Hope this information helps.
Thanks.
