How Can A Genital Wart Be Treated?

I recently found out that I had genital wart. Fortunately, biopsy came out it is just wart. No cancer. I am now interested in getting vaccinated for hpv. I know I will not get protected hpv strain for wart but I still can get protected from other high risk strains. But I am currently 35 and gardacil is only recommended up to the age of 26. Is there any place who can administer gardacil vaccine to wome over 26?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have been diagnosed with genital wart there are two modalities of treatment. Either application of Imiquimod or surgical cauterization. Regarding Gardacil vaccination it is not recommended above age of 26 as it's efficacy decreases. But if you still want to take it there is no harm. But since it is not recommended it will not be covered in your health insurance nd it is a very costly vaccine. So you should take the cost benefit ratio under account.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
