How Can A Gluteal Hematoma Be Treated?

Hi, I have a Gluteal hematoma for six weeks already and it doesnt resorb. I went through a draining surgery and they took away appr. 1.5 liters of liquid and I stayed with a drain pipe for a week. After that the pipe and container were removed but the swallowing appeared again and my buttock is slowly gaining the before the surgery shape and size. Please advise how should I treat it from now on as I dont want to have a second surgery. Thanks in advance, Vladimir

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the site of your gluteal hematoma is again swollen and there is pain, it seems that there was a deep abscess which was not cleared properly or you were not given an appropriate antibiotic.

First, it is important to clear the hematoma site and then a proper antibiotic should be given. In my opinion, the same procedure should be repeated followed by a pus culture and sensitivity test which will help your doctor to prescribe a suitable antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
