Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I encouraged my 90 yr. old father-in-law who lives in GA to consult a podiatrist for his Hammertoe. The podiatrist over several consultations scrapped the skin build up off his hammertoe . A blood blister was exposed but my father in law appears unwilling to purchase new shoes. He continues to talk but not act. He is not walking much due to pain and therefore may fall in due course. In two weeks he will be with us in WA for a month. In the past, we have been able to take him to the Doctor for his hearing aids and put him on blood thinners another time. We want to help him regain a good action program to cope with his hammertoe. My question is what to do next? What specialist should he see? What is the objective? Can you briefly tell me the recovery time for your recommended actions to heal? Are several steeps required? If yes, please estimate time and indicate degree of relief if significant?
