Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am border line diabetic and have elevated blood pressure. I had taken two cortisone shots in my knees . My blood sugar is gone high and the doctor told me that i have some amount of high protien in my urine what can i do to prevent from having kidney disease. I am in my late 70s. thanks The urine and blood test were done prior to my Cortisone injections
Some advices that I can give to you are: 1) Check your blood pressure at home and keep it lower than 130/80. 2) Keep your blood sugar within a target range. 3) Stay at a healthy weight. This can help you prevent other diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. 4) Control your cholesterol levels. 5) Don't smoke or use other tobacco products. Smoking can lead to atherosclerosis, which reduces blood flow to the kidneys and increases blood pressure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
