How Can A Kidney Stone While Suffering From Atrial Fibrillation Be Treated?
My brother just found out that he has a kidney stone about the size of a quarter, too big to blast. He also has a cyst in his left kidney. He also has heart afib, high pulse rate. His cardiologist has him on Eloquist and has recommended a cardiac ablation. That is about all I know about his condition. He is 59. He has no blockages, good blood pressure, 117 over78. How would his doctors proceed?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is good to know that your brother is under a cardiologist. No, worries. Cardiac ablation is a process that helps to minimize the AF. The risk arises sometimes when complications occur during Catheter ablation of AF when death occurs usually due to stroke(1 in 1000 cases die if such complication). Once the cardiologist gives cardiac fitness, then only other procedures should be done ideally.
About the kidneycyst, simple cysts that are non-malignant do not have any symptoms or complications but others may damage the kidney. Treatment will depend upon the diagnosis. The treatment for kidney stone will depend upon the size & location & the type of procedure that should have to be taken for removal. Let your brother drink plenty of water, give him food low in animal protein & salt, food low in oxalate should be taken. Get all investigation for heart & kidney be done first before proceeding for any procedure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
