Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve got a bruise on my shin from when it was badly hit during sports 3 1/2 years ago. The bruise no longer hurts for the most part. However, the area of impact still retains a dark bruise-like discoloring, and the area remains tender and has a small bony lump that moves around underneath the skin. I believe it is a heterotopic ossification. It s been three years and it hasn t healed. Will it ever heal? And if not, it is something that I can have surgically removed? The bruise is very obvious, and I would like to see the lump removed for cosmetic reasons.
As per my clinical experience, the bump sounds to be sebaceous cyst most likely. It can be removed under local anesthesia on day care basis after confirmation by a consultant surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
