Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is seeing a surgeon tomorrow to talk about the need to remove a lymphnode in his armpit. A biopsy of it was inconclusive so they want one in its entirety to check. They said this could possibly be done in the office. My readings say it is a hospital procedure. I was just wondering what was the usual case
If only single lymph node enlargement is there in the armpit and it's not deeper inside the chest, then it can be removed by simple incision and extraction which usually not require operation theater procedure or hospital admission. However, if you have any doubt, you can take the second opinion. As such biopsy procedure usually does not require hospital procedure (admission).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
