My 19 year old daughter just suffered a meniscus and/or acl injury in soccer. We have am appointment to see ortho physician. What should I give her to help with pain tonight so she can get relief and some sleep? I have pain medication from a recent surgery but not sure what is best to give her. She took 800mg of ibuprofen and is still in lots of pain
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
In this acute phase she shiuld should rest, apply cold compresses, keep it elevated and take nonsteroid painkillers such as ibuprofenum or Diclofenac, and if pain is more severe then Tramadol may be considered. When pain and swelling subside then you need to do MRi scan to see what kind of injury exist so that appropriate treatment can be planned. ALso, if pain is untolerable then immobilization cast may have to be applied so you should consult doctor about this option.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
