How Can A Painful Abscess Be Treated?

Hi doctor, I have been in excruciating pain with an abcess all day, went to a&e and they gave me antibiotics (amoxicillin), anti-inflams (naproxen) and cocodomol. Ive taken over the course of today 4x paracetamol, 2x 15/500 cocodomols, an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory. The last two cocodomol I took (an hour and a half ago) did absolutely nothing, I genuinely felt the pain get worse. Although perhaps not advised, would there be any realistic risk to my health if I smoked some weed for the pain and to take my mind away? Many Thanks

Hello,

Treatment of an abscess differs depending on the type and size of it. In most cases, it is treated with drainage, so you need to visit the nearest medical center to cut the skin and allow the pus to drain out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abed Tahrawi
