How Can A Painful Lump On The Wrist Be Treated?

I have what I think is a ganglion cyst on my wrist at the base of my thumb. It is a little larger than a pea. It is becoming quite painful when I move my wrist. It feels like it is pushing on a nerve. I m a tennis player and a golfer. Wanted to know what the treatment is and how long is the down time? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
Ganglion is minor condition and easily cured.
Consult an orthopedic and he might aspirate the fluid through a needle.
If the size is large excision is preferred to avoid recurrence.
Thanks
