Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was assaulted 6 months ago and broke 2 ribs. I am still in absolute agony from this is it possible they are still broken after all this time? I have a very physical job and I may have a hurt it again the old injury. I need to get on with my normal job and it s very painful
Hello dear, based on your history it looks like you have tolerated a lot. Injuries to the rib cage, especially fractures, like in your case needs a lot of time to heal (a month to a couple of months), hence you will need a lot of patience. I know its easy to say but very difficult practically. What you will need to reduce the pain is * Avoid weight bearing * Take ample bed rest * Take painkillers * Wear a well fitting chest binder * Most of all eat and drink well to gain the necessary calcium and other nutrients.
I hope I was able to answer your question. I wish you good health.
