How Can A Perforated Septum Be Treated?

I have a perforated septum. before it perforated, it was sore, scabby, dry. after the perforation, no more problems for a year or two except the hole. now the sore, bleeding, scabby stuff is starting again. i m worried. I went to an ENT and they thought I might have wariners but the biopsy came back negative for that and cancer. any ideas? the dr was convinced I had an autoimmune disease of some kind but the rumatology docs wouldn t give me an apt without more confirmation of some kind.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We have to rule out conditions like syphilis or cancers which can cause perforated nasal septum, once such causes have been ruled out it is better to go for surgical correction because perforated septum can cause recurrent infections and bleeding and might cause intense discomfort also. Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
