How Can A Perineal Abscess During Pregnancy Be Treated?
HI, I am 32 weeks pregnant and had what was diagnosed as an abscess in the ER. it was a perineal abscess. the doctor drained it and gave me a prescription of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium tablets that were to be taken every 12 hours. I was concerned about going to the bathroom with what i understood to be an open wound and was told by the nurse to put vaseline on it when i went to the bathroom. i did that only once and it was as soon as i got home because i realized when i went to the bathroom that i did not feel a hole or a cut so i m not sure how it was drained. I just started taking the amox tonight, three days after it was lanced (due to the script not being sent to my pharmacy). but it still feels hard...almost like a solid. the swelling is definitely gone, but i am concerned that it is hard and am wondering what i need to do or if i am jumping the gun and it s healing fine
it is tobe drained and proper dressing with sterile gauze is to be done regarding antibiotic like amoxicillin its safety during pregnancy is tobe seen. consult gynecologist regarding medication.it may heal fine.
