How Can A Recurrent Small Whitish Bump On The Tonsil Be Treated?

have had white small bump on my tonsil, almost went completely away
when gargled with peroxide and water, but then came back again. Was able to see
it with flashlight. Have not been sick, no sore throat or fever. I have felt it's presence there
for 5-6 weeks, has gotten smaller then returned. Did have extensive 3 hour dental work to
remove old filling, and prepare for crown, no root canal. Bump happened after this work.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complain, a small white bump on the tonsil that went away after gargling with hydrogen peroxide and water seems to be most probably due to tonsil stone formation over the tonsil which occurs due to calcification of debris and food particles that accumulates over the deep crypts over the tonsils..

It can be prevented by gargling with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water. Gargle with at least plain water after eating anything. You should limit the intake of high calcium foods like dairy.

In case, if there is a formation of multiple stones it can cause recurring tonsillitis and bad breath, therefore, needs to be removed manually using a q-tip.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
