How Can A Red Blister Around The Incision Area Be Treated?
Hi, I cut my finger on Feb. 2 and needed 8 stitches on it. The stitches have been taken out and the area around the whole finger has developed a dark red blister type that has a very hard shell . Is this normal to see in the healing process and how can I treat it. My e-mail address is YYYY@YYYY
As per your case history, you are having suture site infection. My treatment advice is - 1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil, and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
