Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a sebaceous cyst for many years on my back. Just now it got erupted and brownish cheesy material was released reducing its size to almost half. Now the skin fold (sac) is still there and isn't draining any more. What should be the next step from here on to prevent any infection??
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Consult a general surgeon and make sure that all the debris are removed along with the wall of the abscess cavity. Do not suture the wound and let the cavity remain open. Start a short course of antibiotics for five to seven days. It will get healed in four to five days without any issues.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks.
