How Can A Skin Burn In The Throat Be Treated?

Hi my son temporarily got a very hot piece of chicken in his throat possibly as far as his voicebox. He ended up at emergency twice, 2nd time due to infection first treated intravenously and then taking tablets at home. Was told if his voice changes he should go back to emergency. His voice dropped after the incident and now has gone up a bit. Is it just recovering or should he go back to hospital? What could voice change mean? The original incident happened 9 days ago. I am on hols in nz and he is in melbourne Australia. I am worried. He is aged 31

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The voice change can be because of Larynx or vocal cord affection. Some growth over Larynx, inflammation or infection can be the cause. For that indirect laryngoscopy examination should be done. Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
