How Can A Skin Cut On The Thumb Be Treated?
I cut the pad of my thumb almost off. went to the hospital and received 8 stiches. went back to the hospital after 10 days to have them removed. 2 days after I went to change the bandage and the outer put of the cut reopened. went back to the hospital to see what to do. They said there was nothing they could do about but to wait for it to die and fall off. Now I changed my bandage on Monday and the area stunk. what should I do

cut wound with stitches need not to worry about it but you have to care for that with simple steps
sterile dressing with antiseptic solution like betadine for decontamintion of the wound is very important untill complete recovery
this dressing should be changed every 24 hours and keep it clean away from dirt and water
if you feel inflammation of the wound and infection suspected you should take antibiotics like amoxicillin as you have high risk of wound infection especially if you were not changing dressing regularly
the sutures of stitches should be removed by adoctor or anurse as it is considered foreign body for your immune system and inflammation or abecess will occur
continue cleaning with antiseptic untill recovery
