How Can A Skin Cut Wound On The Finger Be Treated?

I cut my finger a wk ago on a sharp piece of metal.( Duct work.) it should have had stitches but i didnt go in. My tetnus shot is updated lastyr so i didnt feel it necessary to waste a drs time. I cleaned it with peroxide and taped it up. The skin around the cut is still swelled and now the skin under the finger on the top of my hand is noticeably darker. It feels like pins and needles in that hand occasionaly . i pulled the scab out and squuezed it td but nothing came out but a very lil bit of watery substance. No blood no pus. Should i b concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If it hurts when you press over it or if it is red or swollen then it is infected.

Change the bandage every day and disinfect it. If it has infection signs it may need antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
