How Can A Sore Inside The Left Nostril Be Treated?
I have used a cortisone nasal spray for decades due to severe allergies. In the last 3 months, I have developed a very small sore just inside the left nostril. There was a bit of nasal tissue hanging down yesterday. Do I need to see the doctor or just treat it like dry nasal passage?
Hi, Thanks for using heathcaremagic.com I have gone through your clinical history and I can understand your concerns. Steroid nasal sprays for long term cause some side effects. As per your description you are having soreness, which is a common adverse effects of such nasal sprays. You can use saline nasal drops two drops four hours apart to get some symptomatic relief,You can also use cotton dipped in glycerin for the same, but do not push too deep in to nasal cavity. The hanging tissue in your nasal cavity might be a polyp or retention of mucus, you don't need to worry regarding this. I suggest you to consult a general practitioner or an ENT specialist and you need to be evaluated, which include a rhinoscopy (visual examination of nose) rarely a CT scan or biopsy. The doctor can explain you regarding the further use of steroid spray.
Hope this information helps. Regards. Dr.Shinas Hussain
