General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The investigation fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) is suggested to know the type of cells and is it cancerous or not.

Irrespective of its nature as to nodule is cancerous or not, it needs to be removed surgically. Generally, thyroid surgery seems to have a good prognosis.
If the cells are showing cancerous changes, regular follow-up is necessary as suggested by your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S
