How Can A Vaginal Yeast Infection Be Treated?

I think I have a yeast infection. I ve had them before, but usually when I am taking antibiotics. I have not taken antibiotics recently but the symptoms are the same. My gynecologist has an appointment available Wednesday. But I m in the midst of a 7 day treatment cycle with monistat (tonight is night 3). So I am not sure if I should cancel this appointment? It s my well woman exam, but can I even have a pap smear while I m getting treatment for a yeast infection?

Hello,

Here are some best working guidelines to handle yeast infection:

-Drink more liquids as you can.
-Get prescription of antibiotic (as penicillin group or others), anti-fungal medications from your doctor for best recovery.
-Avoid vaginal sex if active.
-Maintain hygiene at its best.
-Discuss need of vaginal swab test with your doctor.

You can have Pap smear while getting treatment of the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
