Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a vulvectomy done last Monday and today went in for my follow up. my doctor used silver nitrite on the incision due to granule build up. and now most of my stitches are gone and I have red raw patches on my vagina that are bleeding. I called them and was told this is normal and to use ice packs every 15 mins
Red patches and bleeding following procedure indicates that the wound has not healed completely.
Kindly follow the advice and take appropriate measures as instructed. It may take about a couple of weeks for the wound to heal completely.
Following this, if there is still the appearance of the scar, it can be overcome by application of keratolytic agents or by means of plastic reconstructive surgery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
