How Can A Wasp Sting On On The Right Hand Be Treated?

Hi. I had a territorial dispute with a yellow jacket yesterday morning. I have never been allergic to bees or wasps. It stung me on the index finger of my right hand just above the knuckle. As the day went on my finger swelled up quite a bit. When evening came my hand began to swell. I have iced it off and on since last night. Now, it is starting to pass my wrist. How should I be treating this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry for the wasp Sting you had yesterday.

To treat the swelling, you should:
- check if any sting is left inside
- apply ice compressess locally
- take oral antihistaminic (Benadryl)

If it will continue to swell until morning, go to ER.

Wish fast recovery.
