How Can Abdominal Bloating And Acid Reflux Be Treated?
I am 59 yrs old and until 2 days ago I felt good. I am overweight but I do exercise and try to eat vegetarian as much as possible but do eat chicken or fish occasionally. No red meats..I am also diabetic so food choices are important to keep my sugar in the normal ranges. I go to my regular physician 3 times a year but am not due until May. I am now having a bloating feeling in my stomach and I feel as though my food is in the middle of my chest although I have no heartburn symptoms. I do have a discomfort under my right breast as though something inside is swollen and inflamed. Is this possibly something to worry about? Thanks Audrey
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The bloating may be linked to the discomfort under the right breast. A bloated abdomen can sometimes push up against the chest. There are different causes for bloating. It can be related to the use of certain foods, it can be the only presenting symptom in reflux, it can be a side effect of medication , can be related to constipation. Foods that cause bloating include-broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, beans, turnips, carbonated drinks, prunes etc. You may need to be assessed to find the exact cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
