Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Abdominal Bloating And Flatulence Be Treated?
I m wondering whether to see my internist or a gastroenterologist (or other): I experience frequent gas no matter what I eat and it s often uncontrollable; my stool varies from semi-soft to very soft to hard and back again; I find I have to avoid eating for HOURS ahead of time when I plan activities in public. This problem has become gradually worse over the course of many years. I ve had at least a couple of colonoscopies and no issues have been found there. One gastroenterologist checked me for nerve damage in the rectal area and that also was cleared. Can you suggest next steps?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You should consult your gastroenterologist for complete clinical and laboratory assessment, besides, you need to strictly do the following:
1- Avoid eating fatty and large meals.
2- Divide your meals into smaller ones.
3- Eat well-balanced and healthy diet.
4- Your doctor will prescribe antispasmodic for abdominal cramps.
5- Drugs such as Eucarbon which contains natural ingredients to regulate the digestive tract and prevent flatulence.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
