Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Acid Reflux And Breathing Difficulty Be Treated?
I have what I believe is chronic heartburn across the expanse of my chest. I also occasionally have to take a conscious deep breath. My throat is fine and I do occasionally exhibit minor sleep apnea. I am fine with movement and exercise. Do these symptoms point to anything specific?
Gastritis with acid reflux may cause aspiration of acid into lungs which may further cause breathing difficulty. Metabolic syndrome patients like obesity lead to sleep apnea and fall of oxygen levels in blood at night lead to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease lead to hypoxia and dyspnea.
You can avoid spicy food and alcohol, do regular exercise and yoga. Use tablet Pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Weight reduction may be useful; placing of pillow below neck may useful for easy breathing after sleep.
Oxygen supplementation at night may be useful. Need polysomnography to evaluate the severity of the disease. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
