How Can Acid Reflux Be Treated?

Hi, I have acidity problems for long times, and those were started mainly because of my sedentary lifestyle, although now a days it has become like a nightmare to me, even when I m eating normal home made foods, the acidity strikes back. All restaurant foods, party food has nearly stopped for me, I dont dare to touch these even for one day due to my acidity problem... What should I do? And another question is that which kind of proton pump inhibator or antacids acts best with less severe side effects, Rabeprazol, Pantoprazole or Esomeprazole???

Hello,

Acid reflux has many causes. A sedentary lifestyle is one of the cause. Truncal obesity (more abdominal fat) leads to pushing of the stomach upwards while sleeping. It leads to loss of upper esophagus muscle tone and finally to acid reflux.

My suggestion does daily exercise (especially for belly fat). You can take proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole or rabeprazole early in the morning before breakfast (at least half an hr before).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
