Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My spouse is addicted to suboxone film! The doctor that he went to several years ago to help him get off of pain killers has kept him on it for years, gradually he has reduced it down to 1/2 -3/4 of a film per day. But he feels that the doctor is not helping him really and just wants to keep him coming back to get his money. He wants to stop completely but is having withdrawals. Is there anything that can help without swapping one addiction for another like he did with suboxone?
IT produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking the heroine.
The other medicine naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
So its a very good combination for de-addiction. Suboxone may cause drug dependence, which means only that withdrawal symptoms may occur if you stop using this medication too quickly.
Withdrawal symptoms may also occur at the start of treatment due to dependence on another drug.
He must take it as advised by your doctor & strictly by prescription ONLY. he should not stop taking Suboxone without first talking to doctor.
This medicine's dose may need to be reduced gradually to avoid or minimize withdrawal symptoms, if any.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
